Bitter first, sweet at last

R was my 5PSV1 student in 2019. His English was very weak and he came from a poor family. He always slept in my class. I woke him up, he opened his eyes then he closed them back. I didn't know what to do with him. Sighhhh this boy would fail my paper and  spoilt my 5psv1 's English result. I always thought of that.

One day, after I finished my class , on the way to the staffroom , I heard ustazah 's voice. Everybody had gone home. Only ustazah and R in that class. They were having a serious conversation. So I entered that class. I asked them why they were still in the class after school. Both of them looked at each other. Then ustazah told me that R had punched my son because he didn't like my son closed with a girl in that school. I cried after hearing that. I looked at him and asked him why he did that to my son. "Am  I a bad teacher?" Then he answered, " teacher baik". I asked him back ,  " when you hit my boy , did you  think of me? " Then he said, " maafkan saya teacher". He didn't look at me . He just left the class and ran away. I  went out of the class and called his name. It's raining and the floor's slippery. But that boy kept running.

After a few days, I could see that he started learning in my class. No more "sleeping beauty". He asked me which texts or essays he had to memorise. He knew he was weak but I think he wanted to make me happy . And I taught him as best as I could. He wanted to learn and that's good.

When  SPM results came out , R passed his English paper. He was very happy and he made me smile on that day.

So all my 5 PSV1 passed their English paper that year. To R , thank you and I forgive you.
